Looking to get real life price. Looking to buy.
1 owner extended cab 5.4 auto excellent condition 230k.
Has many many service records including some sort of top end work (have not seen when it was done), everything works, except the oil pressure guage and hasn't for 2 years,
seller is having the driver seat reupholstered.
it's in very nice condition except the high mileage.
located, southern Colo.
Thanks
They are worth what you can get out of them
Is it a 4x4?
Pictures
Rust and how is the underbody?
Call the local library reference desk and they can tell you NADA book value
Use Kelly blue book
Bid low, 230k is a bunch of miles
Try to find one with 150
I paid 1200 for a creampuff 97 that only went 4 miles an hour because it needed a new transfer case
Into it about 3800 now after fixing everything on it that was broke including the AC
Have fun
230 is surely not a deal breaker, just bid low in case you have to put a motor or trans in it
Thanks for responding, it is 4x4, I've always been ford, I have a 00' 6.8 sd, with 200k+
really the only things that concern me is the high mileage and electronics, my sd is an
xlt. Not a lot of options like this full dresser lariat.
seller said he'd like to get 10k.
Like new with "low" miles would be13.5 maybe
You deduct for high miles which 200k is
But you only deduct about a thousand bucks for high mileage, or add about a thousand bucks for low mileage
You just pay what you feel is right
Have you driven the truck?
Not yet, this afternoon I'll go with the seller to pick it up from the upholstery shop.
I've seen it up close and it is very clean.
Before I make any offers I will do a thorough inspection.
Trans will be tired at 230k unless driven slow in town or just freeway. Early intake plenum leak eventually. Grab pics, the Dorman and the like are garbage.
It will need at least upper control arms at this point. Shocks a few times. Axles and Tcase service a few times. Check the records.
My low miles great condition truck had a very fair price, but if I was going to buy it again I would have read codes on the PCM. It probably would have had the P1000, not ready, code. I might have seen some pending codes also. The SES light lit up after a few hundred miles.
It wasn't a big deal in the end, it was the isolator bolts, but I ended up spending a lot of time on it, and now have a spare O2 sensor and a bluetooth scanner, because of it.
Thanks guys, all great points and things I will consider on the next opportunity.
I am going to take a hard pass on this one. howwever, I told the seller what to address before asking too much above 2500 imo .
Volt gauge, oil pressure guage don't work, front end sagging a bit. I didn't look under to investigate.
paint chipping on the hood, missing top of tailgate protector...
mileage @236k maybe not a deal breaker but with everything else.. no deal
