rad leak?

I had a problem with a rad cap that didn't seem to release pressure. The coolant would leak in various places. I changed the cap which stopped most leaks except the ends of the rad still seem to seep some. Will too much pressure often cause those end gaskets to leak?

How old is the radiator? If it is seeping that much I think your radiator is marginal. I would also check your freeze plugs and see if they are showing any signs of leakage.

I would think you would blow a hose or a connection before the radiator would weep. The old cap must have cranked up some incredible pressure.

Yes this does seem strange to me too. At one point the thermostat housing was seeping badly but this stopped when I replaced the rad cap.

i've got a problem with coolant leak or useage loose bout a quart a month or so depending on how much i drive it i have put cardboard underneath to check for leaks and nadda. Oil looks good and no excessive steam or smoke out the pipe. Bottom radiator hose needs replaced but not seen any leaks also didn't have the problem till i flushed the radiator. Gonna replace the cap and bottom hose see if that stops it

I found my leak today when I took the truck to my uncle's shop. The core showed a small leak under pressure. I can use the press at the shop to install my tanks on a new core, sometime after Christmas. I would try a rad sealer but I'm afraid it may plug the heater core. I have had that happen before. Maybe someone has a good pruduct that doesn't plug heater cores?

95BlackF150, if you go to a rad shop they should have a pump which hooks on in place of the rad cap to pressurize the system. With a little extra pressure while the truck is off we were able to find my leak today.
