The air bags in the lumbar support will not hold air. The control switch that controls the air in and out has no tension in it. I was wondering if the air bags had holes in them or if it was just the switches. And how to repair these if possible. Thanks.
Yeah - had the EXACTLY the same problem. It is almost certainly the switch. Not sure of the steps to replace it - I have buddy that's a 20+ year Ford mechanic. Didn't take him too long though.
Haven't had any problem since.
Pull the switch and check the rubber tubing connector. I have found several connectors that were split where they are pushed onto the switch. I removed the molded connector and installed small pieces of rubber vacumn hose to reconnect the hoses.
In addition to the screw in back of the seat (under the carpet on the seat), there are two on the side. You need to get them from the bottom of the plastic piece that holds the seat adjustment controls. Get a flashlight, get down on your knees, and look up under there. If you don't see them, get back up, push the leather/cloth in on top of the plastic piece and look down there. You won't be able to see the head of the screw from above, but you'll be able to see the piece the screw goes into better. If I remember correctly, you're going to need a real short Phillips screwdriver. The short chubby one is probably best if you have one. And be careful with that plastic piece. It's held on by the two screws you're looking for and two clips. The plastic part that clips to the seat is quite fragile and will break if you're rough with it.
