You guys at this forum helped me a lot with my son's grasshopper problem (grasshopper in instrument panel), so now he's asking me to seek your help with his new problem (98 F150). At night with the headlights on driving down the road and everything is fine, when he wants to pass or speed up and causes the auto trans to shift down the lights dim. He has had the alt and charging system checked and it is OK. Any ideas will be appreciated.
He is thinking about getting a new Supercrew, but his ATV won't fit in that little shoebox bed. Beautiful cabin, but no hauling room - too bad.

I have a Polaris 700, the biggest ATV made and it fits in my F-150 short bed with the tailgate closed, as long as I back it in. But if I had an aftermarket bumper or brushgaurds it would not fit with the gate up.
Thanks for the reply. I should have mentioned that he also had the battery checked.
His ATV is also the Polaris, and it doesn't look like it would fit in the 5.5' bed. The Supercab has a 6' bed, but he really likes the big doors and the beautiful cabin of the Supercrew. The 98 150 has been a great truck.

Originally posted by pilot10 No clue on the dimming lights issue but I believe the new (04s) crews have optional bed lengths.
The dealer said he wishes that were true, but the 150 Crew has only one bed size available. The standard, Supercab and Supercrew are on the same chassis with the bed lengths determined by the cab size. Dodge offers a Four door with a longer bed, but does not have the rear passenger room of the crew (and it is a Dodge - nuff said). Again thanks for the response.
