New bedside pictures

Preferably the inside of it. I’m just wanting to know ahead of time what comes on the new panel and what and where I’ll drill and cut the old one.
I have a very nice rust free bed but the right side needs replaced. Bottom front is rolled under and a few dents/dings around the tail light.

Here is a good thread about replacing bed sides, with pics. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...made-easy.html

I believe depending on who you got the bed side from, it could or could not come with the inner fenderwell part. I think AMD (Auto Metal Direct) bedsides come with the inner part of the bed side. I would think you could ask your vendor if the outer panel comes with the inner panel.

You need to go buy some quality spot weld drill bits/cutters. And either a corded drill or a quality cordless one. You have lots of drilling to do, if you do not get the bed side with the inner panel.

I book marked it, guess I don't really need it now?

I know there are many ways to attach them. I had the new bed sides and had the inner fender to bed side metal tubs new. My buddy had to rework the inner tubs to fit, a hammer and etc did it. I was going to use lots of bolts and large rivets, but he used minimal welds, 3M body bonder stuff, and dug out his big box of clamps. That 3M stuff is about as permanent as welding, if done right, without heat that welding involves To remove the old sides, air chisel and spot weld cutter bits. Only thing he got concerned about was when he noticed the front of the bed was slightly narrower than the back of the cab, he was so worried that he called me. He had never noticed it before, I vaguely had, and it's correct to both tuck the bed front out of the wind and to minimize the cab-bed gap look. It's only 1/4" or so.

How bad is the damage? it's possible fixing your bed might be better and cheaper than putting import steel on. or maybe patch panels would do.

dings around the taillight mean nothing those are simple fixes.

I will post some pics later today.
the right front bottom is rolled up under the bed a little. That would require a front lower panel and the rest is around the tail light and one gouge in the side about half way between the wheel opening and the back of the bed. Mid way up.

I've fixed worse but it would take some work. but so would installing a new side panel.

If there's no rust I'd probably fix it, but the pictures show a little rust and old Bondo? if that's the case maybe a new panel makes sense.

behind that bondo is the only rust on that bed.
I think I’ll try to fix it. Worse case I’ll still have to buy a new side.

Looks fixable to me. Local deputy sidelined as body man in a shop's extra bay once for awhile, I had some worse damage from backing up on a log that kicked up behind right rear tire, he cut / hammered / fixed it, it only bubbled up after 10-12 years Was a cheap fix.

Panel replacement is the go to these days because it's faster and cheaper and the skills required to do good body work are nearly gone.

It can definitely be fixed, it's just going to take time and a lot of work. you're going to need to learn how to shrink metal but it's all doable.

There is that too.

A couple years ago during the latest redo, lower rear cab corners and front fenders at lower rear behind wheel opening were all rusting bad. My buddy said that he could fix it all, but it would take time and more $$$ than replacements. I had replacements to him in a couple days, and things speeded right along. He had the cab corners in the evening that I took them over. He prepped & primed the fenders and I took them home and bedlined the back sides where the old ones failed, then swapped them into place before he did final painting. My doors and tailgate were "repairable" but I had new ones on hand long time.

I would sale of for cheap and put a flat bed on it. Lol JK Just saying there is always options. Like using steel versus rubber for the rear fender flares below.
