Crank no start
Here’s what I know so far. It cranks fine and I can hear/smell that it tries to fire for 1/2 a second, then nothing, will still crank. I have 65psi of fuel pressure. The gauge I have is saying that the ip is getting up to 3400 psi. From what I read, that’s way too much. If it gets that high does the computer tell the injectors to stop firing?
Part of me thinks it’s the ipr because yesterday it had a really hard time starting. I didn’t think anything of it at the time because I’ve had battery connection issues that have prevented the glow plugs from getting up to temp. I did notice though that I left a rather large spot of soot on the ground while I let it warm up and when accelerating it rolled a little coal until it was at operating temp.
I think my next step is to unplug the icp sensor and sees if it starts? Any insight is welcome.
im no expert but what comes to mind is fuel could be gelling. What year is the van? It was running good until recently? Have you changed anything recently?
It’s a 2000 and I haven’t changed anything. I did an oil change a 1000 miles ago, and it has oil.
Other than this morning it’s been running ok.
I’ve been looking for one of those charts, but to be honest I go a little crossed eyed trying to read those things. There’s too many dang abbreviations.
its -4 where I’m at on the front range, I’m guessing you’re somewhere around -20 right now? Plug it in and see what happens

Note of a few things while cranking...
any smoke while cranking? Color?
Does the RPM guage move while cranking?
Are you getting a WTS light?
what voltages are you showing before key on, key on & no crank. While cranking.
Check the HPOP oil level. If too low, it won't fire the injectors. You can check thru the port on the top of the HPOP. (Hex key) Should be near 1/2 inch from top of access port.
Disconnect the positive terminals of both batteries and make sure both are good indivually.
I had read that 11.2v was needed to fire the injectors but that was long ago and mine is an early 99 with the glow plug relay. I think 2000 and up have the glow plug module.
that info may help narrow down the issue.
