I just dropped off my Ford 400 engine block at the machine shop and requested to have him drill out the hole to 5/16" and install 1/4" pipe plug as Tmeyers website suggests. I do have a couple of questions about it just to be 100% certain before the drilling starts.
1.) I found a different picture on a forum about the oiling mod (attached below) and it shows that cylinder #1 is the only one to get drilled out. Do I only drill out cylinder #1 or drill out all of them?
2.) I noticed on the block (I believe the rear engine) has 3 separate holes. Do I leave those alone or drill those out as well?
If I was going to do anything to a 400 blocks oil system it would be restricting the oil to the top end in the rear main of the block. Make sure the align bore is good, get it balanced, chamfer the oil holes in the crank and you won't have oiling problems.
