Hey 40Grit, may I ask if you have the AT&T internet service enabled? I'm still confused on how the OTA's come across. I've read that there's a cell service that connects to vehicles for such communications, that the manufacturers have worked out with the service providers. I also heard that the vehicles talk to their home wifis. If you don't have AT&T, then that eliminates one of three possible modes.

the att modem you pay for has nothing to do with not getting otas or get ting them
the att data plan can be Off and yiur truck will still recieve OTA s
All otas come through tye cell modem...not wifi or internet

Ya, everybody has a cell modem in their vehicles these days. That's how you can do all the remote monitoring & remote start stuff, as well as OTA updates. Ford makes enough using the app to upsell services & presumably selling the tracking info to pay for whatever their deal is with which ever cell provider to make it worth it. The truck acting as a WiFi hot spot requires an additional data plan you, not Ford are on the hook for. Not sure if they use the same modem, probably not & there are at least 2 in the vehicle.
GM got caught selling all your data. https://www.aboutlawsuits.com/gm-onstar-lawsuit/. Ford hasn't gotten caught... yet. Jeep/Stelantis is in the middle of lawsuits for forcing popup adds you can't make go away into their infotainment systems systems. All of those are going to be similar manufacturer owned cell connections providing that data service.

Check your codes after this latest round of updates. My telematic control unit module now has a permanent code that says it is unprogrammed. Everything seems to work, save for the going back to settings as others have said. Contacted Ford on it and they say reprogramming, replacing or even resetting the module won't remove it and it is nothing to be concerned with. This is absolutely bull**** as their OTA updates are not properly QC tested, ever, despite them saying otherwise. These updates should never cause so many very noticeable and interrupting functionality errors.

There's got to be a fix or workaround for this. I've reset every module, gone through all the settings, and even checked my current as-builts on Forscan with my OEM as-builts. Master reset SYNC. I'm stumped. And I do have the TCU error also. This update seems like a dud. If i can get this fixed, i'll definately have auto updates turned off forever.

I don't think my sync 4 updated as my FordPass says no updates since 11-2024 but today the radio screen went blank/dark after about a mile. I turned the rear camera on for a minute to see if the screen had failed and then everything started working except for when audio and carplay started seizing up intermittently. Just looked and my IPhone just updated last night so I may have found a different culprit. FWIW how do you do a master reset?
I don't think sync updates show up in the ford pass app. Mine only shows module updates, and I got a screen pop up about the sync update in the truck. I could be wrong, but I do not see the sync update in my fordpass app right now and I know it's gone through.
Master Reset is under the settings in the center console.
