Cab weight

Looking for an approximate weight of my '53 F100 cab with doors and glass installed. Also, suggestions on lift points/rigging for removing.

Don't think the cab would weigh much more than 300 -350 lbs

I found it much easier to lift the cab with doors off. The upper door frames can take the weight. I built a wood 4x4 attachment for my cherry picker. Have lifted with both doors on and off and I found it to be sketchy with the doors on. The cab doesn’t weigh much. It’s similar to an engine.

My family and friends lifted my 55 cab off, without the doors. It was not too heavy.

The doors themselves are not heavy, but with the latches, windows and mechanisms they start getting heavy.

If you have a complete cab with glass and doors, I would definitely use a mechanical device for lifting it.

Thanks for the tips on lifting the cab off, I will need to do the cab on my '53 before too long.

I did the same as 56panelford. Except I used a chain hoist and tree limb. 4x4 though cab with 3" lifting straps.

My 2 cents:

I agree with the others. This rig is easy to build, if you have the hoist.
