I have a GEM that has gone bad and more of an annoyance then anything. But with as old as these trucks are information and parts are a bit harder to find I am trying to find out if the parts number matter so much as long as the functions match.
My truck is a 2001 f350 with no power options, no electronic 4wd, no power windows and no keyless entry. The part number on my box is 1C3T-14B205-FA but I have found other units remaned with the same features but a different part number and not sure if it matters or not.
Any insight would be great. I've heard about needing it needs to be reprogrammed which I have forscan and think I should be able to.
That is not neccesarily the actual part number, but an engineering number.
Kind of like a version number.
Okay, so if I find one that has the same options as my current module it should work? It's a bare bones truck looking through the schematics with mine have a manual transmission and manual shifter for 4x4 on the floor.
It would still need to be programmed with "As built" data using IDS. You can source a replacement but if you don't program it, you'll have all kinds of codes and warning lights coming on because it's looking for modules that aren't present.

Where are you located?
Utah, I was able to drop mine off at a circuit board repair business and they got it fixed up and working. It had leaves and crap all over it from the previous own but I will smoke the cab just in case and see if I have any leaks.
