Rear Seat Removal

Does anyone know if it is possible to remove just the rear bench seat and leave the jump seat on these newer super dutys. I want to build a low platform to mount a refrigerator on and give me a little more storage space but want to leave the jump seat for a third person. I can't seem to find any videos of anyone doing this. This is on a 2024 F350 XLT Crew cab.

I have frequently removed and reinstalled my rear seats to maximize crew cab space and reduce weight when on extended trips with my slide in camper. It is indeed possible to remove the larger seat and leave the smaller jump seat in place. It requires 18,15,13 mm sockets and a T50 torx socket to remove the base anchor bolts and seat belts. 18mm ratchet wrench is handy to remove the seat belt anchor bolt under the sub woofer on B & O sound system models. I remove the seat belt recepticles from the seat bases to leave the electrical connections intact to prevent warning lights. There is a hidden spring loaded catch behind the bench seat that you have to feel around to unlatch with the seat folded up to release in order to remove the seat. Takes 30 min or so once you get the hang of it.

In the f150...so I assume' it would create same issues with seat belt if you remove to seat belt buckle , annoying seat belt notices.
If you have heated rear seat, there are at least 2 harness to unplug.
and boom bam rhe driver side bench comes out with some bolts removed
It's not skinny in the weight department
use 2 people

Negative Ghost Rider, most of my work trucks I've removed the rear seats. I've been using my same box since 2017 and that started out in a platinum. It's currently in its second 2024 crew cab. You have to leave the seat belt connection points intact. Which is easily done

correct if you leave them no issue

But it's not required

Yes, you can remove the 2-seat bench by loosening the coupling screw between it and the jump seat. I have a 2024 F-250 XLT crew cab. I disconnected the corresponding electric plug. After each start, the rear seat belt warning would have to be acknowledged by pressing OK. But, an air bag warning light would stay on in the gauge cluster. That had me worried the airbag might become disabled. So, after removing the seats, I undid the female seat belts buckle from the seat and reconnected the wires. I will build a rear wall where the seat belt can be tucked and secured.

In my 2024 F350 Lariat SuperCab, I removed both (60 and 40) rear seats and simply disconnected the wire connectors that run off the female seatbelt sockets. When starting the truck, I would get two related error messages. First, a "WTF" orange question mark across all three (removed) rear seats. Notice that this symbol is slightly different than the red "put your seatbelt on!" message:

And then a few seconds after this message faded away, a second error message "Rear belt monitor fault Service required":

So! I checked on these forums for help.

People here reported success removing the (female) seat belt sockets from the (removed) seat, putting them back in the rear of the truck, and "connecting" them. Not one single post here has qualified what "connect" means exactly, because there are two things that can be connected: The seat belt wire harnesses, and "buckling up" the seat belt themselves.

If you just reconnect all three wire harnesses, then the "Rear belt monitor fault Service required" goes away. And now all 3 rear seats show a red "!" instead of an orange "?".

If you then "buckle up" all three rear seatbelts, the red "!" turns into a green checkmark.

This is all expected behavior. However what is driving me crazy is that now, the green checkmark seatbelt status screen shows up AND NEVER GOES AWAY. Even as I am driving around town, there it stays, smack dab in the middle of my console, telling me that why yes, you and your three phantom passengers all have their seatbelts on correctly! I have to explicitly go in and select, for example, "Offroad -> Compass" or some other info screen, to get this screen to go away.

I have a few theories on what is going on here:
1) Ford pushed an OTA update that changed this behavior just to mess with my head, exactly when I was testing the 'before' and 'after' seat belt messaging
2) The female seatbelt sockets were originally bolted to the seats, and the seats are in turn bolted to the floor of the truck, and perhaps there is a ground connection being made there that has been broken by just having the female seatbelt sockets -- even though they are 'buckled up' happily to their male counterparts -- just kinda stuffed in and zip-tied up.
3) In another thread, @aarone indicates there is a trick to turn off the seat belt warning light (drive forward un-buckled, then plug and unplug them and stop and .. a bunch of insanity, I don't know) ... maybe I reset something and need to re-calibrate the seatbelt system with this owner's manual seatbelt warning trick?

UGH!!

From what I observed after removal of rear seat: reconnect the 3 electrical plugs but do not buckle up the male-female seat belts themselves. This way, no error message.

We removed the rear seat from our '25 F450 to build storage and a dog travel area. At first I unplugged the seat belts and experienced the same as members above. Then I plugged the seat belts back in the airbag symbol and warning lights went away. This is not an ideal situation. Those seat belts are in the way.

Two questions: where can I find the male connectors and how can I determine the resistor I need to spoof the system if that's possible?

You can use Forscan to tell the truck it has no seatbelts period. Might fix your issue.

I've read that its a digital comm from bcm to a microprocessor hall effect sensor within the female seat belt itself. You cant spoof it with a resistor or jumping the wires.

Someone needs to take apart, destructively necessary, and see whats inside the rear seat buckle.

It's been done. See this link.

Jumpers have been tried. They don't work. It was suggested on another forum that jumpers could screw up something major.
We're downloading the Forscan 2 month license and will try that. I'll report back with the results. FWIW.....Our mechanic said that he's had to fix stuff that folks screwed up with Forscan. My wife is a software developer and programer. She not too worried about it.
