Hi everyone I need some help I have a 2000 7.3 zf6 4X4
im having a parasitic draw of 3.60 amps things I’ve already
1. checked the battery’s come out good
2. alternator I unhooked the whole thing still drawing
3. I removed all the fuses and relays under hood and under the dash
4. Changed the starter solenoid
5. Removed the power to the glow plug relay
I’m at a lost I’ve tried everyhting and cant narrow it down because it’s not drawing from the fuses so it’s like a needle in a hay stack if anyone can help it would much appreciated if not I’ll probably just leave it and just charge the batteries everytime I start it
I'd prob find a wiring diagram, and pick a few points where you can divide up potentials. And hit those areas w/ a clamp on meter to look for draw at that point. Divide and conquer.
I have had an odd one... One of my cars, if I left a dongle plugged into the obd port, it would keep the pcm on - drawing 3-5a... Could possibly undo the pcm and see if the draw goes away. Otherwise - gonna have to go at it the hard way.
a friend had this issue that drove him nuts. it ended up being the motor in his power seat. it was locked up and constantly drawing power. he adjusted the seat and never used it again so he didn't even think about it.
