Shift **** removal

I need to remove the shift **** from a 4 speed ford F1 truck transmission.

Before I screw it up, does it simply unscrew off the shift lever? There is no nut under the ****, and I do not see threads.

Thanks all. Well, this is not a truck or a regular car. It is a railroad gang car. It is powered by a Ford industrial 4 cylinder and the older 4 speed non synchro Ford truck transmission.

The clutch went out, and while replacing it, it also needed a new boot for the shift lever.

We use these for a passenger excursion train in northern CA.

The **** probably has never been off.

We also have a 1983 Ford ranger hi rail pickup. The one with the diesel motor. Great for running on the rails. Not so much for running in the road.

I don't know the exact model, but I will get a picture of the tag and post it.
4 cylinder pushrod industrial ford.

I know one of the gang cars has a pinto 4 cylinder. Our brush chipper has an overhead cam 4 cylinder ford industrial.
