V10 tapping?

Our 2013 Ford v10 in our tiffin motorhome is tapping. The motorhome was recently taken out of storage (1year) we drove the motorhome a couple hundred miles not a problem. Now after sitting at new site for the past 4 months we decided to move on. When I started it this morning it had a pretty good tic . There are 68000 mi on it, oil was changed just prior to putting in storage so same oil 1 year old but only 200 mi. use. We have had and maintained this motorhome for the past 5 years and never had a problem. When the motor starts it runs smooth as a ever just the tap. Oil pressure is fine. Could it be the old oil?

Does it go away after warmed up?

You running 5w20 or 5w30?

I had 5w20 in mine when I first bought(92K miles), put 5w20 in next oil change and still slight tic on startup (5 seconds) then quiet.

Wanted to switch to 5w30 anyway as it’s the original oil weight spec’d for these motors. Have had 5w30 in it the last 2 oil changes and tic on startup is gone. That’s been 10,000 miles or so. Truck has 106K miles now.

I only let it run for a few minutes. I am going to change oil and check my plugs.

I'm curious what the tap does after like ten minutes of idling.

It continues. I had it looked at and it seems like a lifter on drivers side.

is it a tap or a pop, the v10's were good for exhaust manifold leaks due to snapped 8mm studs holding the LONG manifold to the head

Great question. There is one missing bolt on the passenger side exhaust manifold. The other bolts look pretty bad also.
