I’ll look into those PSC boxes and throw one in.

thank you!
Just for full disclosure, my Excursion has a Cummins engine swap, so the power steering pump is a borg unit meant for a Cummins.

IDK how the pressures compare between a Ford and Cummins pump but I had this same engine and power steering pump before swapping over to the PSC box and the PSC box helped.

I had a redhead steering box dropped in about 10k miles ago and have had no issues since. Did not completely solve road wander but helped a lot and made the steering tighter. I am also running 35s on a 4" lift on an OEM steering pump. Not sure how many miles on the PS pump.

yep that’s the one. They aren’t running that one anymore. New number is PSC-SG752.

My bad, apparently the number in my picture is the serial number of my particular steering box, not the part number, the part number is SG752R (see link below).

You can get them straight from PSC as well , you don't have to go through a middle man. Again, expensive option to fix what might be a minor concern, especially if your current steering box doesn't otherwise need replacing.

In my opinion, considering all of the threads I have seen in forums and on Farsebook,
I would go the extra money to get a pump that won't shell out in 15k miles.

Red Top, Blue Top, Broken Top??

I compare this to my Electric Steps, $1500 plus install, but that was 2 years ago, and I do so love them now, I almost broke my hip, when I slipped off of the OEM step one day, in muddy soil.... I have long ago, forgotten how much that dinged my wallet, but I appreciate it everyday.

PSC steering box with the optional power assist. According one of the Techs at PSC, the assist option is for trucks with big tires and rock climbers.
I installed their basic box because I run OEM size tires. Very easy to turn and stay on target.
Throw everything Moog in the garbage. I’ve had ball joints stick so much I had to constantly, I mean every second, jerk the steering wheel loose to aim the Ex between the lines. Switched to Ford Motorcraft and no more issues.
I installed Moog adjustable camber/caster bushings/sleeves and the closest I could get to 0 degrees camber was 1 degree positive. Switched to Specialty Parts Company (SPC) solid bushings/sleeves, and with the help of Tom, one of their Techs, was able to obtain a perfect alignment; almost perfect. 1/32” off on one of the tires. Better than any so called pro.
One thing you should consider is replacing the lower steering shaft with a Borgeson. The Borgeson replaces the worn out “rag” joint with all metal u-joint. After the install, it immediately felt tighter. Probably the best mod I’ve done and it’s an easy swap.

thank you for the advice that was on my list to replace the shaft.
I had a borgeson one my cj7 never had a problem out of it.
