MASS AIR CONVERSION HELP

I've got a 1994 f150 Supercab 4wd with a 5.8l / E4OD. With the KID1ecm. I have obtained a wiring harness (transmission to the headlights and everything in-between) form a 1994 Mass Air f150 supercab with a 5.0l /7r40w. I've obtained a 1994 HOG0 ecm from a 1994 Mass air 5.0l /E4OD. I'm not exactly sure how to replace the 7r40w trans harness with my E4OD harness or if there is a easier way to do this that in not seeing. Any help would be handy and if anyone has any simplified diagrams if im going to have to re-pin the harness so I don't screw this up would be helpful.

An EVTM would help immensely to compare the wiring pinouts for the 4R70W and E4OD connectors.

Why are you doing a MAF conversion?

I plan on doing some upgrades in the near future ( heads / cam/ long tube headers/ intake ) and the SD system can't compensate for the upgrades. I've built another MAF 5.0l / 4r70w f150 and I'd quite frankly like to build another one and I've got to work with what I've got atm.

Keep the SD system. Buy a new computer from Stinger Performance. Buy any engine parts you want and make any adjustments you want.

X2....an EVTM manual is HIGHLY suggested for this swap if you want to stay all Ford OEM. In the long run the PimpX Shift is probably the way to go since those computers are not beyond their expected service life.

Geeeze I feel obligated...

I did the straight 94' 5.8/E4 to 5.0/E4 MAF conversion.

1st time it was wire for wire addition & repin of the original SD harness.

After couple years, it developed issues with 5 vlt ref line.

Second was a complete under hood drop in OE salvaged harness.

I used a MUT1 & HOG0

Now I have the pimpxshift

I remember that there are direct differences in the E4 & 4R wiring to ECU & MLPS which is different plugs & pinouts.

But can be changed either by splice or repin if you're good.

You need an EVTM or be able to search FTE.

Id post mine but my CD PC is fritz'd

That will still require tuning so MAF doesn't really help, a PIMPX is the way to go these days.

But if you are determined to do MAF, then don't touch the wiring currently in your truck, take apart the donor harness, remove the injector and meter wiring, and add that to your truck along with the matching PCM.The only alterations that should be made to the original harness in your truck is removing the 2 SD injector pins at the EEC connector and moving those pins that differ with MAF.

I disagree. Id drop in the complete MAF harness & make the trans portion match the E4.

You have to match the ECU connector to connector that mates with the top of engine. (the numbers escape me) that's adding 6 wires to the SD harness to match the donor injector harness.

Plus you have to add the MAF wires to the ECU connector & relocate the IAT harness to the airbox.

When I converted to MAF my mildly modded engine went from 192HP rear wheel to about an additional 10-15 HP, no tuning.

don't suppose you have a pinout diagram around somewhere to do this or a link to a pinout diagram for what I'm trying to do. Funding and time are my current limitations mixed with heart transplant surgery on top of it all and this is the easiest way to start the process. As for the pimpxshift system I know absolutely nothing about tuning so I'm not exactly sure how well it would actually work for me.

I'd like to find the 94/5.8/E4 pin-out so you can compare.

Another reason to use the MAF harness is that you can always go back to SD by just pulling the donor harness out complete.

I'd heed the advice from everyone who said to get pimpx. It really is the way to go.
