I had my truck deleted, paid the guy $500 to do the delete. Now he wants another $900 for a tune. I am getting HORRENDOUS MPGs at 13.2mpg and supposedly by having the DEF deleted, I should increase some MPG's. I am not convinced that paying him another $900 for a tune, is the ticket.
Has anyone purchased a tune program for their truck?
Mine is a 2017 F350 Lariat with 59,000 miles
You can't delete anything without a tune, sounds like the guy is screwing you.
I am surprised it will run at all without a tune.
And, you can't just delete the DEF anyway, it's an all or nothing deal.
And, most all of the reputable tuning shops will not do delete tunes anymore due to the extreme crackdown by the EPA and huge fines.
Makes sense. I think you are right. I get an Overboost Code every so often and he claims that a tune will fix that. I was under the impression that when he deleted it with the Tuner Depot System, that it was already on the right track.
Why would you want to delete it anyway?
Put it all back to stock, end all the issues.
Lots of guys have lots of issues with their delete and tuning, and then the company that did the tune is out of business and the guys are up a creek.
Sounds like he deleted it and used the generic tune that comes with the tuner. That will usually cause you issues with mileage and a dirty tune. They aren't set for the truck.
Look into a company that can get you a custom tune and don't pay that guy $900 for anything. PROVEN is one that has a great record. Go to their website and purchase a tune with a tuner. You can load it in all yourself and probably end up saving $500.

Don't see anything on their website for delete tuning.
And, their ezlink tune package is $1150.
There's some private Facebook groups and they specifically discuss things like you're asking about. Seems to be no shortage of reputable guys on there. I've seen hundreds of people referring a couple different guys all with good results. The second I have any type of emission failure I will be going that route as well.

Well, I like the not having to ad DEF and love the extra power. I am a Firefighter/Paramedic and enjoy the extra punch. Reverting back is not an option now since the clown kept me old take offs and I no longer have the components. I KNEW I should have brought them back for that very reason, but at the recommendation on a buddy who has an F250 and has never had issues, I opted to try this "reputable" guy out. He is also well known by many in the area....but has turned into a ***** with my constant issues.

Well, power-wise, there are plenty of full emissions power tunes available for your year model truck.
But, yes, sure should have kept all the take-off parts, if for nothing else they would be worth quite a bit of $$$.
See if he will install the tune for a $$ deposit, if your happy with the change then pay up in full and enjoy. Deletes and tunes are not cheap...$1400 for your set up and he did the work is a bargain.
Y'all, please don't name names in here. The EPA reads these forums and goes after companies and individuals mentioned. Use PM's if you need to pass along a name.
My friend knows a Snap-On guy that will delete for $200. The '24 trucks are different than the '23 trucks as far as deleting goes...at least with the software he uses.

I've been a staunch supporter of keeping emissions systems intact since the automakers figured out how to make them work with little to no impact on performance and drivability. Early catalytic systems for gas engines were junk and I didn't mind removing them. Wouldn't consider that on a modern car though. The system on my '19 Powerstroke doesn't hurt performance and has a very marginal impact on mileage as far as I can tell.
But now I have to admit that I am starting to look at delete options because my warranty is expiring in October this year and I fear keeping the emissions system working is going to start costing me more than taking it off. I really feel for the folks who are sensitive to particulates but at the end of the day it will come down to cost consciousness for me. For clarification I'll attach a couple screen shots of my FordPass alerts. So far I've had NOX sensors replaced twice, EGR valve once, and most recently the DEF pump and injection line was replaced. To date it has only cost me $50 out of pocket for what I assume are a couple thousand dollars worth of repair tickets.

I agree, I don't have an issue keeping the emission equipment as long as it works and doesn't cost me thousands. But, the second my warranty is gone and that happens, then the big girl will go on a serious diet. Hell most of my warranty is probably gone already anyways. It's lifted, has a DCR swap, full Pusher setup. I figure at this point the only thing that may still have a warranty is the actual engine/trans and some electronics.
