I have a new to me 88’ F250 with the 460. I have one bad injector. I have a set from a 92? F250 sitting here they’re .5Lb more than stock. Stock injectors are E8TE-B1C and the extra set I have are F1TE-D5A. Spare set Stock set
Will these be fine? Or is it too much?
It 'may' be ok. But more than likely you will be running rich, might run lean, all the time.
The computer is dialed in to run specific injectors, without telling the computer that you've changed them, its not going to know.
I figured as much. I’ll just pulse clean the original set and see if I can get the bad one to free itself. I liked the idea of the 4 nozzles with the new set
As I wandered around the Junkyard. I noticed the 91 and later ran the F1TE’s I actually had the injectors from some other project laying around so it’s no problem if they don’t work. I could always source a computer out of another truck if I really needed to.
I would think as long as the computer can adjust the pulse a little less based on feed back from the O2 it should be ok no?
I would also think the computer is not running the old factory injectors to the max at either end of the pulse.
I would like to see what happens if you were to run then, any way to see what the O2 is seeing if running rich or not?
Think asking to see pulse output is asking too much on this old stuff

After I installed my Kenne-Bell supercharger on my 5.8L, I installed larger injectors and a different MAF sensor. It was a real pain to get the injectors swapped.
Long story short, I could not get it to run right. The quickest way for me to get this to run, was to reduce the fuel pressure [I had an adjustable regulator]. I want to say 20psi was where it ran the best. Being a family man, I ran this for at least 10-15 years. Those that are a good father know that working on the truck is secondary. I ran it this long because there was no time.
If my truck ran ok with 20 psi, I suspect you could lower the fuel pressure enough where a slightly larger injector would run ok to. I believe I had 36lb vs the stock 19lb injectors. So, you could get those injectors and fine tune the pressure to your liking.
Before anyone says I am a butcher, I already know that.
Those injectors are good to go the difference in flow rating is insignificant and won't make any difference, If you were going from a 24lb to 36lb it would be a different story.
Thanks all!
Old Blue runs better. A lot smoother with the new injectors. So far it doesn’t seem to run rich (based on the sniff test) A/F meter will tell me if that’s the case! Onto fuel pressure gauge and A/F gauge. Pleasantly surprised the Schrader valve is removable on this truck.
