When the truck is about to shift, the power drops a good bit and the truck feels like its dragging until it gets to the next gear. Happens going up and going down. The engine rev noise and exhaust sound muffled when its happening and you can hear a little hiss in the cab while it happens.
Seems like you exhaust back pressure valve (EBPV) is closing and it's normal to some extent in cold weather, but sometimes they get stuck in the closed position due to rust and carbon build up or the spring is weak not allowing the valve to open.
It's definitely been colder here than usual, but no lower than 15F. Does what you suggest align with the issue occurring right before the truck shifts up or down? Also, would the hissing be the boost then? It almost sounds like AC blowing softly until it shifts, its not super loud.
