Anyone else have a water pump fail on a 2017+ 6.2? Started mine up yesterday too let it warm up for 5 minutes before leaving work since it was -10 and when I went out there was a puddle of coolant under the truck. Was running down the front center of the block and looked to be starting from behind the fan clutch pulley. It stopped leaking once the truck was warmed up and didn't leak this morning at all.
Getting the truck in the shop Thursday to have it looked at. Truck only has 65k on it which seems early for this stuff to fail. Thinking about having the fan clutch replaced also because it's always been a little noisy at times.
Odd how cold weather can cause coolant leaks. I have a sports car that leaks only during the cold winter months via the lower radiator hose when warmed up it stops leaking. All summer and spring no leaks.
Does seem like low mileage for a water pump but parts do fail at times at least a water pump is pretty straight forward.
My sons 2015 6.7 had a bad/leaking water pump at 110K miles which seemed early as well?
Got the truck back this morning with the new water pump and fresh coolant. Mechanic showed me the old pump and it was leaking from the weephole and the little cavity behind the weephole was full of coolant.
Well, the pump started leaking again with around 2000 miles on it. This time the temps aren't really that cold and it doesn't leak enough to make it to the ground, just wicks down and along the oil pan/block interface and I can smell it when walking to the front of the engine. Going to get it replaced under warranty this week, hopefully it was just a faulty pump or bad install and not something more serious. It was an aftermarket pump so maybe that's the problem?
