I have both the Haynes GM transmission rebuild and SA Th350 rebuild books and they are pretty thorough. I would imagine the Ford counterpart books would be the same quality.

Peg-leg 8" with leaking welds as 8s are wont to do. 135hp 302. Does have the "good" steering box, screw-in A-arm bushings & staggered shocks.
Has turned into Flintstone special. 302 is locked & not worth saving. C4 stopped motivating so long ago I forgot what it was doing that put it up on jacks.
Just remember it wasn't catastrophic.
I have a 95 5.8 I recently pulled that looks fine so far.
I rehab the C4, drop in the 5.8 with a basic truck SD EFI ( I gots plenty parts) & go.
