Ghost Key beep beep beeping...
So do I have to take apart the steering column?
The warning chime sounds anytime the driver's door is open with or without the key in the ignition. Two or three times I was able to wiggle the ignition enough to make it stop - briefly.
Searching around the forums here I found mention of a plastic clip that fits against the ignition cylinder that is supposed to close contacts when the key is in.
I'm guessing that's probably my issue... right? Is there any easy way to get to that?
I really don't wanna take apart the whole dang column. Such a tedious task.
There should be a small access hole in the column shrouds you use to poke the pin when the key is in the on position
Pretty hard to see up in there
Once the ignition lock cylinder is out, you can inspect the spring loaded contacts and the ring along the outside the housing with the connection wire
That 2014 is the same as a 1997
