1994 f150 302 e4od the truck is straight axle swapped so now has 8 lug f250 axles under it been chasing a transmission problem won't shift on its own I have reverse manual first and second but when you go to put it in drive it neutrals or if you start in drive it just stays in first won't shift to second have already had trans rebuilt with new solenoid block and new speed sensor in the rear end I have checked fuses and my speedometer works but when I hook it to scanner it doesn't show speed on the scanner thought it might be psom but after researching last night the symptoms of a bad psom doesn't match what's going on so if anyone can help I would greatly appreciate it this thing is turning into a money pit quick and I bought it like this so It's not known if it ever worked since it's been straight axle swapped because the guy I bought it off of also bought it like this also abs light is on because there's no longer abs in the truck with the axle swap
What are the axles from? Does the rear have a RABS/VSS sensor on the pumpkin?
Its interesting that the speedo works but the PCM doesn't see a speed signal, that is why the trans isn't shifting.. speed is one of the absolutely must have inputs for trans control.
Does the truck have the original dash cluster or is that an unknown? I believe only a '94 or '95 cluster would work correctly in this truck so if it's been swapped at some point that is likely where the problem lies.
P.S. The dash cluster should have a digital odometer, if it's mechanical that is the wrong cluster for this truck as it doesn't even have a PSOM.
