Hello Ford People. I have a 1999 F250 Super Duty 7.3. When I hit the fuel throttle a little hard or climbing a steep hill my transmission drops out of overdrive and the off light on the shift lever comes on and blinks. The truck will not go back into overdrive. What I have to do is place it in neutral, turn the truck off and back on. This clears what ever is happening and the truck will then go back into overdrive. Mechanic replaced the shift solenoid and some wiring from the transmission to ??. Truck is still doing the same thing and mechanic is now saying he thinks its the PCM. Have any of you fine folks experienced this and what was your fix? Thank You for any advise and help.

The ONLY way to know what to fix is to read the codes. When the OFF light flashes it means code(s) are stored in the PCM. Just randomly replacing parts is going to cost a lot of money before you happen to find the problem.
You can download Forscan free at www.forscan.org. Their page shows how to select on adapter to plug into the OBDII port. This is the best way to read the codes. Do not take it to an auto parts store to read the codes, they cannot read Ford transmission codes.
Not yet. Taking it to a transmission shop tomorrow. Hopefully they can test the pressure, as the only code that came up was that it could not connect to the computer.
