Brake Light on a 84

Why would my brake light come on randomly in my 1984 f250? it will come on and then after a few minutes fade in and out at random times. I haven't noticed any patterns that cause it and I can't recreate the problem.

Doesn't the e-brake trigger the brake light? Is your e-brake maybe slightly engaged or some part of the linkage loose and bouncing around?

first thing i would do when they come on by themselves is to "toe up" the brake pedal. if the lights go out, i would change the brake pedal spring. or re adjust the brake light switch to compensate for the weak pedal spring.

The brake light switch is pretty easy to adjust. I've also had to lube and clean the eBrake pedal on my classic Oldsmobile before to get the brake lights to work properly.
