So i am currently to the point that I know Im needing a replacement excusrion in the new few years. Yes, I could get another one that's clean but thats getting harder and harder to do. The newest 3/4 ton SUV are the 2013 suburbans, with the ever elusive .GOV ones that were made till 2017. This has left me with the idea of a CCSB truck the front and rear bench seats, but would love the 3rd row option.
So being in this world, if you were to replace an emcursion with something other than an excursion, what would it be. Must be 4wd, at least 6 seats, and pull 8500-10k ish.at min.

2005 - 2006 GMT800 3/4 Ton 2500 Chevrolet Suburban / GMC Yukon XL.
Honestly, a GMT 800 like @Y2KW57 above mentioned is a pretty solid choice. The IFS can be troublesome, but if you're not wheeling it to hard, then the aftermarket has some parts to address some of its fundamental flaws. The rest of the truck outside the front suspension is pretty good right out of the box.
...
If you need a 3/4 ton suv, the GMT800 2005-2006 Suburban is a great choice if you can't find a clean Excursion for a reasonable cost.
The 8.1 can be beefed up too as it's got plenty of room to grow.
The Expedition EL can do the job too, but with more creature comforts. Just make sure to upgrade the oil pump to a Melling high volume high pressure pump and use 5w30 synthetic oil.
I should add... 2003 to 2004 3/4 ton Suburban / Yukon XL is good too. Try to stay newer than 2003.
Seek a 4.10 gear ratio. That's important.
The 6.0L Vortec V8 (RPO LQ4) does not have any cylinder deactivation, nor variable valve timing. That is why I stop at 2006.
At some point in the GMT900 evolution from 2007 and beyond, GM started introducing problems that can be avoided by sticking with 2006 and earlier, but not earlier than 2003.
The 8.1L has a tough time keeping cool, and there are more parts and options for an LQ4... that you can rebuild with LS7 goodies.
But the 8.1L will not lose the argument with a load. Nor your gas credit card.
Either way, don't settle for the 3.73 gears if you are towing 10K with 6 people in the wagon.
Nissan NV. The 2020 Nissan NV3500 HD has a towing capacity of up to 9,400 pounds when equipped with the 5.6L V8 engine.

While there are NV3500 HD vans running around that are 4WD, all the ones that I have seen are aftermarket conversions by either Advanced4WD or Quigley.
I'm not aware of any factory manufactured 4WD Nissan NV3500 vans offered in North America.

Right now there are Southern Exs available but there are 25 years of wear on them. If the body on yours is rotted out there are many swap over candidates out there. Not selling it but the 2000 I bought has a dents on the roof but no rust.

Sound advice
The 2003 and 2004 6.0 actually had more power to them. Much like the Ford 6.0, they took power away as production went on. I had a 2004 2500HD truck as a work vehicle back in 2011 and almost bought it because it had so much power for a gas engine. If it had 4wd, it'd be part of my fleet all now.
Definitely don't settle for 3.73 gears if you plan on towing, it'll do the job but it'll do it even better with 4.10 gears.
