Recently bought a 94 Flareside and this is the main known issue I’m dealing with…
I’ve been searching previous posts but haven’t really found anything that fits 100% with my odd symptoms…
Cruise control does not work. However,
Horn does work.
Airbag warning light was initially not coming on at all and I thought it was burnt out and maybe part of the problem. However, now it does come on while driving (under specific conditions) but NOT when ignition is first turned on.
The beeping/warning chime is constant to begin with, but then seems to diminish to a series of five beeps every half hour if I’m not varying speed a lot.
But here is the really odd symptom… A couple times this past week I warmed-up and let it idle for 10-15 minutes before I left the driveway. Both times the beeping did not happen a single time over the course of the 1.5 hour trips. Instead, the airbag warning light would intermittently flash. No set times between, and anywhere from a single flash, three flashes or five flashes. Sometimes every few minutes, sometimes sooner or longer apart.
Hoping I can replace the clockspring this next week when it arrives, but am still researching potential sources of the problem in the meantime.
When the air bag light flashes, it is flashing a code. You should see what the code is.
Hmmm. Feeling pretty stupid… but flashing a code how? I see the airbag icon, no code. I see other posts referencing code 34, but don’t understand how/where the number code is identified. I had tried to find a pattern in the blinks but there did not seem to be one. (Although trying to keep my eyes on the curvy mountain roads and also count flashes was difficult.) sounds like I’m looking for x number of beeps, a pause and another #
I’ve now found a list of the codes and corresponding flash pattern so will have to see if I can Identify a pattern assuming I can get it to flash again. Best I could tell though from the previous two times is that there was no pattern. Or perhaps it was throwing multiple codes one after another….
When it beeps the warning and is not flashing it is just five successive beeps each time.

Not sure if this is your problem, but on my 1995 Econoline the cruise control was not working and part of the problem was the cutoff switch located on the bottom of the master cylinder. Mine was bad and therefore would not let the cruise control activate. This switch turns the cruise off when you step on the brake. Hope this helps.

thanks. I’ll check that. I saw that there was a harness and fuse on the master cylinder that I had checked. May have even been a recall on that if I remember right.
Just an update for the archives. Info may help someone else in the future.
Replaced the clockspring and while it fixed the constant airbag warning beeps, it did not fix the Cruise Control. Unfortunate, since I was happy leaving the module unplugged and living with the always-on warning light. Cruise Control is really what I want to get going. Oh well, I’ll continue to troubleshoot that.
All fuses under the hood and in cabin have been checked, including the inline one on the master cylinder switch harness.
I have a new master cylinder switch on order to rule that out as the issue and to get rid of the old recall harness, etc.
The center brake light and others are working.
Only code from the reader is 121, and at this point assuming that is due to the new idle and TPS issue I’m troubleshooting.
I need to do some reading to figure out how to test the servo which I guess is the next most likely source of the problem
And somehow now my gear select indicator is stuck sitting all the way over on the right side… Ughhh!😖 Have to rip the dash apart now to see if the cable came loose or I broke something.
1993 and up (F-Series_Bronco) Speed Control Troubleshooting Hints, an Econoline is the same. Verify the inputs from the switch is good as well as the BPS circuit.
Thanks man. I’ll figure out where that speed control amplifier is and run some more tests assuming the new brake pressure switch arriving tomorrow doesn’t resolve it. It’s a 94 F150 btw.

Well, brake pressure switch didn’t fix the cruise control problem. I wasn’t optimistic that it would, but wanted to get that done anyway.
On to test the speed control amplifier and servo when I can find some time next…
