I believe it also determines the upper and lower inlet/oulet size, my best bet has been going to Napa with the truck and see what they say fits, and what actually fits... I rplc'd the 352 in one of my 66's with a 300 and kept the V8 radiator... made for a pain getting hoses.

thanks! I might have to do that. I was hoping to source Gate’s hoses. But whatever napa has will work just fine.
I don’t know what the PO did but the upper hose has a spring in it, that’s a new one for me considering it’s the outlet/pressure not suction side.
You can measure the radiator inlet and outlet sizes, then you know what hose will fit before going to the store. The A/C or extra cool simple have larger hose connections on radiator side only.
I have A/C truck. Lower is 2", upper is 1-3/4. Both upper and lower have different sizes on either end. The standard radiator typically has hoses that are the same size on each end.
Rock auto is a good source to see what the difference are.
I have used the universal flex hoses before, they work fine too. Coolant only flows but just so fast anyway as there is a thermostat controlling flow rates to the radiator from the engine.

thanks, that explains it. I know 65-69 mustangs and the AC cars had a wider radiator on them, that’s why I was thinking wider radiator.

^ THIS ^ I have used flex hoses a number of times, as long as you know inlet/outlet sizes and engine side also.

I think I found the pre molded ones on Rockauto this morning, if someone local or rock auto doesn’t have them then flexi it is. These 300’s run really cool anyway.
