Hello, New to the site but proud owner of a 66' Ford F250 Camper Special with the Ranger option. I bought the truck in Oregon and trying to learn more about the Ranger optioned trucks and if there is a dedicated early Ranger Option group? Thanks in advance, Matt Door build plate Under the walnut trees in Madison Virginia The "Ranger" seats.
Lot of well equipped '65-'66 F 250 Camper Specials still out there due to the camper boom of the 60's. The Rangers were Fords top of the line offerings, here is one thread '65/'66 F250 Rangers - Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forums Check out post #40 , closest to the look how they left the factory with original mirrors, wheels and hubcaps. More threads can be found by doing a search on this forum
In the Rangers the F100s outnumber the F250s by a factored of 4 to 1. Which is also true for the broader population of over 3,000 1965-1966 light-duty trucks I've recorded so far.
Tripleframe, Thanks for the info, I just spend about an hour reading old posts and getting a little more knowledge. What amazes me, is how few original Ranger optioned trucks seem to be out there. I am back in Germany now and my truck is garaged in Virginia, having bought it from Oregon. It is my hope to bring the truck to Germany, but money and the wife will tell if that is possible.

TA455HO, Thanks for the post, I just came across the XL info, while looking for info about the Ranger optioned trucks. So, does the 51 1966 Rangers include my 250? Thanks for keeping this info alive. If I have to sell, I will be asking the forum if my truck being an original Ranger optioned truck gives it any boost in value. I spent a lot of time looking at BaT and of the 122 1965-1966 trucks sold in the last five years or so, none seem to have the bucket seats. In fact, I only saw one 67' or 68' high boy that had the bucket seats as original equipment, and the Marti report said it was one of one. Anyway, thanks for the info.
Yes that includes yours. They are a bit on the rarer side. The Cruise-O-Matic trucks are some of my favorite. I have an F250 Deluxe Camper Special Ranger with 352 and COM with factory Sauterne Gold and Wimbledon White two tone paint and Parchment interior. I’ve got projects that are 80%+ done that I’m looking forward to finishing up.

I took a look at some photo's you posted, and read about your trip. I picked it up after you payed off the Marines wife, and were heading to Max's. Were you driving Goldilocks at the time? Maybe I missed something on another thread. Anyway, it is nice to chat with a fellow F250 Camper special "Ranger" optioned Ford fan. Your truck sounds great!! I found my truck on Facebook market place out in Oregon. Paid someone to do a pre purchase inspection and otherwise bought the old girl from photo's. The then current owner didn't seem to know very much about the truck and appeared to only drive it when visiting his mother (where he kept the truck). But feeling a connection, I went for it, and feel blessed. I love the truck. I put nearly 8K on the truck in 8 months and enjoyed every single mile. Ok, I didn't like paying for the gas, but otherwise, you couldn't pry the smile off my face. What are you long term plans with your Ranger, and do you mind sharing?

Any reason to not start a Ranger thread with the list of known Rangers like on the slick 60's.
BTW; thanks for keeping records going on as Michelle did.

I agree with Christmas, First, thanks for keeping the records. I have seen someone named Michelle in some older forum threads that mentioned a "Ranger" Register, but both sites won't load. Second, I agree, is there a way to reach out to other 65' 66 Ranger optioned ford owners and maybe start a Register? I actually think it could be a good idea for the Camper Specials too, as there are some things supposedly different on some of the Camper Specials that might be helpful to know. For example, the front axel spindles on my May 66' built Camper Special are already the right ones to upgrade to disk breaks (or so I read on another thread, I believe, on this website). That should be true of the June built CS owned by TA455HO.
Christmas, do you know when your 250 CS was built and does anyone know what changes Ford made on the F100 Camper Specials? I have only seen a few, and it has my curiosity peeked. Oh, I took a look at your photo albums, and those are some nice looking rids. Do you still have both?

The green 66 F100 CS I only had 6mo. The red 66 F250 CS I still drive, almost daily. When the F100 went I bought a 65 F250 CS Ranger which I drove 7mi home, put it on blocks and there it sits.

i have a 66 250 cs ranger also. Bought new by a lady who first had a camper on it but early 1968 bought a 27’ trailer to tow behind it and because it did not have enough power had a 1968 GT390 engine installed but in early 2000’s it started running rough so parked it. Had been parked quite some time before i bought it.
because original engine was gone decided to go late model and FoMoCo donated a prototype 3.5 ecoboost that I installed. Just gotta find time to paint it & get it back together.
Boss9F100, that is awesome!! I am still trying to piece together the story behind my truck. I love the original color on yours, will you go original or planning something different? Hope you have time soon to continue, that is my biggest worry right not in keeping my truck and starting a restoration. Time and money. Thanks for sharing and keep up the amazing work!!
