It must be like the "wave" in a stadium. Luckily you missed it's hay-day by about fifteen years... Or maybe thats when it passed me by on its way east and now its on the return trip?
The absolute worst is listening to athletes or rappers telling something. Every other word is the phrase "you know what Im saying" that is the worst. It is very annoying and makes them sound absolutely ridiculous, because I have absolutely NO IDEA WHAT THEY ARE SAYING!

Remember the show Square Pegs with Tracy Nelson ( Ricky Nelson's daughter)?
That was a silly show indicative of the 80's. But the one I remember form that show is Sarah Jessica Parker, who is anything BUT a square peg nowdays! Boy, did she turn out yummy! Speaking of valley girl talk, though, do you all remamber 'gag me with a spoon' and 'I'm sooo suuuure?'
I am 38 years old and still say Dude way too much. It is a good word, though, you can almost make a complete conversation saying nothing but 'Dude' depending on how you say it. I also say 'Man' alot in conversations.
As far as 'like' goes, it isn't too bad, but if you mix it with the words "and all..." it can be pretty annoying. ex: "We went to the mall and all and we got hair cuts and all and we just wasted the day and all..."
