Lately when applying the brakes the whole truck vibrates seemingly coming from the front end, I replaced rotors and pads but problem persists. Jacked up the truck and used a six foot bar to check ball joints, they seem fine no play at all. Anything else I could check?
did you clean and grease the SLID PINS so the caliper can float and apply pressure to both sides of the disc ? ........... if all else fails, check the BACK also..
In addition to cleaning and lubricating the slides, make sure to wire brush the hub mating surface to remove rust or corrosion
to reduce/eliminate any wobble of the disks.
As you have gone to work on the front end brakes, apparently this isn’t anything related to Abs break pulsing and given front end is suspected, no indication that steering pulls to left or right when braking?
Thanks for all the replies, I'll have to wait till it warms up a bit to take a look at it again. I did clean everything and lubricate the slides, and no, it doesn't pull to either side when braking. Not sure if it makes a difference but it only happens when I brake hard?
Are you sure the brake pads are installed correctly? They'll fit 2 ways but work properly only one way. The pads with the tabs or ears go on the piston side.
ive had the inner pads stick now 2 times. I just replaced the pads the outers where like new inners were down to 1/8 inch. ive wire brushed and brake greased 2 times. and still take a file and file the tabs to make sure no hold up . think this is common the inner pads stick
