My dad went to hook my temp gauge up this afternoon. But after all that, one of the wires for my volt gauge(or whatever its called) shorted out, burning all the wires under the dash, and melted the hose to my oil pressure gauge. Cab is filled with oil now.... After my dad told me that, my heart just sunk. I know it's not completely ruined, but it just feels like everything I've worked for was for nothing. I didn't even bother looking at it......Sorry, but I just had to get that off my chest......
Remind me not to let your dad to any electrical work on my truck!! Ya just got to get out there and start replacing wires,it'll be fixed before ya know it. Good luck
It technically wasn't his fault, it was my wires that I spliced together. So I'll take the blame. I give up on wiring ANYTHING, I used to think I was good at it
Hey,
dont give up. If you learn something than its not a total loss. If you dont make a mistake now and then, your not doing anything or your from up above. No one i know who has become a professional at something, has never made their share of mistakes and continues to. They learn then move on to the next task. Pick up the ball and press on.
i had a little problem myself i replaced the fuel filter on the crab of my 1975 f150 a few months back and when i put the new one on i forgot to tighten the hose clamps and i started it up and gas was spraying all over the crab and it back fired and caught it a fire and burned a lot of the wires off the engine i also thougth it was done for but in no time i replaced the wires and clamped that hose down tight, i guess you learn from your mistakes.
Time to get rid of that plastic line and replace the mechanic guage with an electric guage. Those tubes manage to go or to get destroyed all the time and when they do, it can take the engine with it if it happens at high revs.
