Hi, I have a 1996 F250 with a 351 Windsor. It has a e4od transmission, and it will not shift out of 1st unless I do it manually. If I put it back into drive it will stay in 2nd and drop back into 1st when I slow down enough but it won’t come back out of 1st until I shift it manually again. Does anyone have any ideas to what is wrong?
No 1-2 up shift, can be a large list of possibilities. If you're not getting any codes, post back and if you feel comfortable dropping the pan and removing valve bodies, I can help direct you if you want.
I would inspect and clean the connector going into the E4OD transmission
See if the connector is full of trans fluid
You really need a NGS to check trans codes (easily) on a 1996
I advise too, that you get the codes read, anyhow, anyway you can
