Question about "courtesy" lights..
The light is for Lariat trim level trucks only. Although some early 99 trucks like the 4/98 build F350 XLT that I used to have had the sockets installed, but no bulbs. On the 99, I just bought 2 bulbs and put them in. The other difference is that the XLT trim trucks get the red reflector, but the Lariat trucks get the clear so you can see the mud puddle and thereby don't get your fancy shoes muddy (anyone with a Lariat trim truck must be wearing fancy shoes). Wait, my truck is a Lariat and I'm wearing steel toe boots; so much for that theory.
