Driver's seat is held down with 4 fasteners at each corner. Removal is a 5 minute job if you need the room. Don't overlook unplugging the seat belt and power seat wiring if so equipped.

Alright, so after fighting off all the electrical tape, I got the wire harness unwrapped as far as I could (about 1-2ft). There is not a single solid red color wire in the main harness that goes along the firewall, definitely no unconnected wires.

Would it be possible that the red wire jumps to somewhere else instead of following the rest of the wires? Or are there any other suspects for an unlit dash?

Off the top of my head, I don't know the answer to your questions and the next thing I would do is get a wiring diagram to find out where that wire goes. Take it from there. Find out what wire powers the dash lights, etc. Sorry to hear about that rabbit hole.

Well, I took this video of mine before catching up on the dialogue and now I'm not sure it will help if you're that far up the correct loom without a trace of any abandoned, severed wire - red or orange. Nonetheless, here it is...

Holy T-taps, batman.

Ok, so I gave up on the red wire. Turns out it isn't what's causing the dash lights to not work, it's the dimmer switch. I ran a jumper from the brown wire to the blue/red wire on the connector behind the dimmer switch and my dash lights came on.

I disassembled the dimmer switch and it turns out the circuit board self destructed. I'm honestly not entirely sure what that red wire powers... I have yet to find anything that isn't working in my truck. Does anyone know if I need to replace the entire headlight/dimmer switch assembly, or can I just replace the circuit board? Thank you guys for your help so far

I would go to pick n pull for the switch.

I would also pull fuses until the red wire loses power. It is probably aftermarket.

I looked at wiring diagrams and can't figure out what the connector is. But it's not important now.

Might be able to find something in the marketplace on the forum but it's not what it once was

if you leave the Dimmer switch on Full Bright, it won't be burning out so often.
the resistor is bypassed at full brightness.

That is true for the older type dimmers. This truck has a solid state dimmer circuit the uses pulse width modulation (PWM)...at least that's what the electrical diagram shows.

Like the others, there are plenty of parts trucks around.

LMC Truck sells the whole switch assembly for like $100, depending of what model year. Between 99-07 they used (8) different switches...

In Carl’s video he states his wire is more orange looking, then we can see what appears to be an orange-ish color wire turning up into this connector. His finger is pointing to the wire bundle coming from the OP’s connector. The distance to this second connector appears to be similar to the length of the broken wire. Might be worth a check.
