To all,
I am new to this site but have already found it helpful. I own a 2001 F150 Super Crew, 5.4l 4x4. I have already had the manifold off to ream and tap all the plug wells and replaced a cracked intake during that time. I am changing all the fluids at this time and am on the transfer case. There seems to be much talk about what fluid to use. My owner's manual says to use Mercon ATF or equivalent, so why is there disagreement? Is it because the fluid has been changing with the different generations of F150s?

The folks that know about this sort of thing don't often visit the New Member Introductions forum. I created a new thread with a copy of your post over in the 1997 - 2003 F150 forum so it can get exposure with the folks with the best answers, including my answer. Be sure to check out that thread at this link: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...ew-member.html

Welcome aboard!
