I received an email from Ford that my 2025 F250 had shipped and is in transit to the dealer. That was on December 13th. I live 10 hours from Louisville. The truck still hasn't been delivered.
When Ford says it has "shipped" does that just mean it's been loaded on a trailer and is in possession of the delivering contractor and not actually on the way to the dealership? Having spent 38 years in the trucking industry, I realize trailers can be loaded for days before actually moving but the vendor marks it in their system as "shipped"...
More than likely, it will go by rail. The ramp code on the window sticker is the rail yard destination (usually within a couple hundred miles from the dealership. Ford chat can give you a rail car number which you can track. Took my truck about 3 weeks shipping time. Sat in a rail yard in Kentucky for almost a week before it moved. Then it would often sit somewhere like St Louis for 24 hours. Once offloaded into the rail yard, it will go by truck to the dealer.

Ah. Hadn't even thought about that. I bet you're right.

I don't know what I am missing, but I can't find the window sticker on the tracking page even though I have the order number and VIN.
I found that if the truck can be delivered within a day, it gets shipped by truck, otherwise it goes by rail. It depends mostly on the dealers order load more than anything else. So if the dealer has 4 or more vehicles being delivered from the same or adjacent factories, they will ship them by truck, but if just one vehicle, then its usually by train, then the delivery truck will have multiple stops from the rail yard. I had an F150 that was shipped out of Michigan by truck because there were 4 more also being delivered. The Superduty I orderd though was shipped by rail even though the distance was roughly the same. There were no other trucks being delivered the dealers way, so it went by rail. It then sat for 2 weeks in the rail yard waiting for other vehicles for the dealer, or surrounding areas. So it all depends on what is being shipped in the area on if its goes by truck or by rail.
I live in Central Illinois. F350 Lariat was scheduled for build on Dec 14. Dealer called yesterday (Dec 20) telling me it had arrived and I could pick it up. Got it this morning (Dec 21)
So, I finally was able to download the window sticker. The Ramp Code is CA6K which is Jack Cooper Transport in Wentzville, MO and it says CONVOY in the box next to the Ramp Code.
Can anyone decipher this? Does it mean it's going by rail to Wentzville or by truck via Jack Cooper Transport from Louisville to the dealership?

Jack Cooper is a big auto transport company that will transport it from the Wentzville yard to your dealer. Norfolk Southern will be the rail company. Get a railcar number from ford and you can track it with NS. Wentzville isn't that far from Louisville so it should only take a few days by rail once it starts moving.
