I agree with WHanson, it can be done if you can find someone willing to work on it for you. If you notice the diagrams I posted the seat motors for both type seats still work the same way. You don't have memory so the drawings show power comes from your battery junction box.
I can't find a seat module for 6-way seats so it may be you don't even have to worry about that. Just have to make sure your new seat restraint system wiring is matched up to your truck. I can provide drawings if you decide to go ahead with putting the 10-way in.
If you decide to rewire your 10-way using your present harness and just moving wires around the connectors I put up here are all you need to make the seat functional. It looks like either seat only uses one of two connectors to control the seat motors. The 12 pin connector adds lumbar support and recline each two wires. These are the ones you would have to add from power wire to the 10-way switches.
Seat wring diagrams. If you have the switch with the seat then it looks like all you have to do is supply power. Wire colors are on here for 2013. Then it's just a matter of matching up wires and for that you can use a multimeter to test power and ground wires for your 2011.
I would re-list the 10 way seat on ebay and concentrate on making the original seat work. With all the computer controls in place on these vehicles, it's tough to impossible to just swap out parts.
Do you have a body shop friend. He can help you get the power supply to function correctly.
If the Seat came with the controls on its side all those movements come from the same power source.
You just need to have him connect them correctly. It's sort of a simple Simone. With the bad back
I would suggest that after you get it working and realize the truck sucks, you trade it for a comfortable vehicle
and a great power chair. Face it !
Okay looking in the 2013 wiring book it shows the big connector with rounded corners and the gray stirrup is C311 which is used on all driver side seats. Each pin number has more than one function depending on package I guess
The connector with square corners and gray stirrup is C300. C300 doesn't appear to feed any devices directly but is a pass-through connector it appears.
Both the 6-way seat and 10-way seat have a module which means the BCM is going to be involved in decision-making so that you would have to have your old seat module installed in the new seat so the BCM is kept happy. And even that might not work. Or who knows? the BCM might not care about which seat module it talks to.
RLXXI advice may be the best. You could put the seat on here for sale even. Then spend your hard-earned dollars to get yours rebuilt/reupholstered?
I think someone with patience and ability could get it working but from what you've said you're without help on this because you need both seats where you can see where all the wires go then match them up with the proper circuits in your truck.
There's one important thing here you might consider. In the end the seat switch is powered either from the BCM or through the Battery Junction Box. If it's not against the law up there you could just ignore the seat module, and all that stuff and just wire in power and ground to the 10-way switch. The BCM might complain with the restraint warning light but in your circumstance of affordability you might could just ignore that. Depends on what Tenn. will allow on safety inspections and if the missing module would interfere with the truck's operation..
Thanks!! We do not have inspections here.
I am going to try to find someone to get this done for me. It hurts so bad not being able to position my body in a more comfortable position...This Titanium does not like to move too much.
I hope someone there is able to help but keep in mind the 10-way diagram I attached: All the wires go from the switch into the seat module so that may or may not only be for memory seats. These wiring diagrams might cover several configurations. You'll just have to see how everything is hooked up. I saw another thread on here where the guy installed a 10-way into his stx by just supplying power and ground but your setup might be different.
The diagram for the passenger side shows the switched power going straight to the seat motors so the seat module may just be a wide spot in the road. In other words the motors in you seat are probably capable of accepting 12 volts but whoever does this needs to make sure of that before they get too deep in case you have to abandon this and sell the seat.
Also one thing to remember is Ford changed he computer setup between 2010-2011 when a lot more modules were added for example on forscan I can't do much with my 2010 but on the 2011-up you can do a lot more with forscan cause of all the added modules and the seats are a area you can make changes
I think the best way is to just wire up the driver’s side seat to the switches like the passenger seat and discard the memory module. I doubt that the memory module from a 2013 is going to communicate nicely with the 2011 software. The switches and motors would work just like the original 6-way seat wiring using the 12V and ground wires.
This is why I asked for the photo of the underside of the seat to see what was purchased. Given the request for cable numbers, I was confused/concerned as to whether the switches and memory module existed on this seat or perhaps it and the wiring might have been removed resulting in the inquiry for seat cables.
I can see where the sliding switch and wiring diagram might be intimidating for someone not electrically inclined, so if you’d like further explanation as to the switch diagram and current flow, just ask.
Hey if you and the rest of the folks just come down here to Cookeville, Tn and put your heads together, my wife would cook and feed you all very well....LOL
We could get it done then!!!!
Thank You all so very much. I will be reaching out to folks in Nashville and see if I can find someone there too.
