Power Seat moves the wrong direction
I'm trying to diagnose why my driver's seat (2004 Eddie Bauer) moves backward when I try to raise it up. I've gone through wiring diagrams, diagnostics on the switch, and a new switch (which tested exactly like the old), with no success. It's not 100% of the time, and it sometimes works properly - possibly when I move the wire harness under the seat. But it doesn't make sense to me that wires could be broken or shorted such that the seat moves 90 degrees from the switch position for that one operation. I noticed that trying to raise the seat with both front and rear tilt switches at the same time also causes it to move backwards. That's no surprise, since the seat raise switch essentially works by activating both tilt motors. However, I can raise the seat by activating front and rear tilt separately.
I thought that before I pull the seat out for a look underneath I'd check here for ideas. I haven't found these symptoms in any of the power seat threads, though.
