2016 F-150 3.5 ecoboost turbo coolant leak
2016 F-150 3.5 ecoboost turbo coolant leak
I changed my oil this weekend and noticed the fitting on the engine side of the passenger side turbo is leaking. It's the line that runs to behind the AC compressor to the block. The block side is not leaking. The line on top of the turbo that runs to the back of the head looks fine and not leaking.
I have read and watched just about every video and understand the "right" way to fix this issue is to replace all lines and fittings turbo and engine side which requires a unbelievable amount of work to change out 100 bucks in parts. That said, I am completely capable of taking on a job of this size. BUT...I would like to know has anyone been able to from the under side of the truck pick out the retaining clip(I think I could with patience and a mirror and what not) and VERY gently bend the tube just enough to clear the fitting and remove and replace the fitting and click the pipe back into the new fitting. It looks possible but I'm not sure about the gently bending of the pipe. Or can you access the mounting bolt on the pipe and loosen to get just enough play in it to just change this one fitting? Will that disturb the block side too much and risk a new leak?
Basically looking for the least amount of disassembly of everything to get this done.
Thoughts? Truck has 124k on it and I'm not sure how much longer I'll keep it anyway.
