my 1990 E250 has the E40D factory cruise control that workd fine until the face plate somehow popped off and I cant find the tiny spring that flew out the door.
Im afraid the odds are slim to none now to fix the pb since the tiny coil spring escaped, but does anyone have a clue where I might get one?
An entire unit would be even more likely to find but not by much. Does anyone specialize in old fords parts anymore ? That would be another slightly better than slim possibility..
Mabe someone who bought an OEM unit, but never got around to installing it and now has kept it in a drawer somewhere" just incase"
Faceplate?
You mean the cruise switches?
Or the horn Pad?
The cruise switches can be replaced but they are way gone obsolete from Ford
The switches last just about forever
I'd look for a good condition horn pad with the cruise switches at a junkyard

Its a 90 E250. They only had a separate cruise control switch on the lower dash ...left of the steering column.
I don't have a wiring diagram but I'd guess it's just buttons and maybe a few resistors. If it's dash mounted anyway, someone with decent electrical knowledge could likely easily reverse engineer it and build something even if it has to be a small surface mounted box.
Thx for the advice. I really never used cruise in any car Ive driven unless theres no traffic or Im going slower than anyone else . Traffic is heavy enough here in california and besides theres too may hills, mountains etc , Ive had them in my main drivers since the 70s and its a bother pretty much most of the time.. If I can find an NOS replacement or its missing l spring, then fine, otherwise Ill do without.
If anyone else reads this and knows where I can get a good NOS or good used one (for an E40D 351 w OD) let me know.

That is aftermarket or dealer installed cruise control
IIRR,
The factory switches on a 1990 Econoline are in the horn pad, if it had factory installed speed control
Try to find a Ford part number for those stand alone cruise switches from Ford Parts
I think you'll find that you need a whole new speed control kit to get the switches
I do see the switches at the wrecking yard sometimes
ARA is where we used to get parts like that
Google ARA aftermarket A/C switch
You'll see a few styles
Find a part number then search Ebay
Been used on everything from 240Z's to old Mustangs
You should be able to find a new one pretty easy and be back to good
Your A/C did still work, right?
Should still work then after replacing the switch
Some of them had the capillary tube which makes switch replacement a bit difficult
Its not the push bar/tabs/ or switches on the steering wheel, but on the lower dash below the turn light switch level thxIll . Ill try and figure how to send a pic I took today 12.20.24 from my phone

Yes my ac still works . Ill look them over and and also contacting wrecking yards, ebay used orig parts,or NOS , also the place in Sacramento area . I think that the one I used 30 years ago for a GT350 i had The parts were hard to get. Sometimes some ford dealers still had some unsold nos,,parts
Thanks for the reply
