Might help to know what year truck you have.....
On my '93 you have to loosen or remove the black strip along the bottom of the door, loosen up the trim panel on the A-pillar, and remove one of those stupid push in things on the panel itself.
Then you can slide the panel out the remove the hood latch mechanism.
