I have searched the forum and tried everything that was suggested to open the hood on my 2000 and nothing works. When looking form the front you can see the hood release operate, but nothing happens. What part of the release do I need to operate to get the hood to open? Any help or suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

 

Walk around to the front of the hood where the latch is. Give the hood a thump with a closed fist on the pinky side. Should pop the latch. The cables do have a tendency to stretch and not hold the latch long enough to fully release it on its own.

 

When i pull the hood release inside my truck, nothing appears to happen (there's ni pop and the hood doesn't move), but i can then go to the hood and lift it up to reach in and release the latch.

 

sounds like u need some spray grease on the latch . the cables go bad also

 

I've tried greasing it, but it didn't change anything. As long as I can get it open, that's good enough for me.

 

I ended up unbolting the latch mechanism and the latch from the hood to finally open it. I cleaned and greased the mechanism and it works now.

 

It won’t open bc this is not the lever to open the hood. It’s on the top
of the hood right above the passenger headlight. It’s hard to find and hard to open, you have to push the latch up and try to open it at the same time. That yellow latch thing is NOT the latch to open the hood!

I had the same issue, couldn’t open the hood, checked online sources and had to pull out the book to figure it out. Wouldn’t you know so many people complained that they made the 07 models way easier! Crazy to pay 70k for a vehicle and the damn hood is so difficult to open!
