Anyone Recognize This Connection Please?

Good Morning.
Migrating for a moment to the bullnose section from the large truck section.

This green plug/connector hangs loose and unused (currently, and as found) in an F700. Does anyone recognize it's functionality please?

(I believe I've been told that there are going to be commonalities with this truck's harness and your lighter trucks...)

Thank you.

Landon

Dose not look like any thing on the 81 F100 trucks

What year F700 are we talking about here?
What does the end look like look like of that plug?
It look like it is somewhere under the dash but where is also a question? TO the left or right when in the driver seat or all the way over to the passenger side?
If driver side (left) what is missing maybe the gauges?

Hi there.
This plug-which is not connected to anything then or now-hangs just over the left shin of the driver. The Red wire with Green tracer was the one that had a meltdown.
The F700 is an '81.

Thank you,

Landon

Still got nothing. Try over here https://www.garysgaragemahal.com/ under documents as he has some wiring listed for our trucks.

Just a thought look on the top side of the steering column if there is a plug that matches that clipped to the top side.
I also got thinking if it could plug into the IGN switch as it is bolted to the top side of the column on our trucks.
Only other thing would be for the turn signal switch as it's wiring comes down the column about the same area but think that is a part round connector?

Is there a large hole in the firewall? Wonder if the other half is in the engine bay and needs to be pushed back thru to that plug?

I take it you have posted above in the Large Truck area and they pointed you to us?

Speed control amplifier? On our smaller trucks, It's mounted on a bracket under the lip of the dash, between the steering column and ashtray. No idea on the bigger trucks, or if it was even an option.

Wiring diagrams on page 67, component location on page 37:

No on the ignition, no yellow wires. I also looked at the speed control wiring diagrams, the wire colors don't match there either. I also though it could be the alarm buzzer/warning system. Wrong style plug. I do not know what it is.

The big trucks do have common things with the smaller trucks; Dash and cluster, firewall and most of the cab/seat/doors. But the wiring is different in places. And the pedal assembly is different.

Sir, I rewired our entire truck on our build. The best I remember, that plugs into a switch in the steering column that controls what gets power in start/run/acc mode of the ignition switch. The key switch only causes a rod to move back and forth along the steering column. The wires that start the truck are buried down the column to make them hard to access compared to earlier Ford trucks (i.e theft prevention).

This is interesting enough I'll try to find a photo. We didn't take a lot of wiring pics because of the focus and concentration it took to do a detailed wiring job prevented any distractions.

If so, your truck must be hot wired?

The Orange chevron is the wires in question. The red arrows show where it plugs to and the rod that causes an electrical contact slide to connect certain wires to power up ACC functions, the starter motor, and the alternator/distributor. You truck has some major wire fabrications if this is left dangling!

That's called the ignition switch. I see no yellow wires in his picture, so it couldn't be that. Plus, the ignition switch plug has two rows to the plug? His plug is only 1 row of wires. Keep trying. I do not know what it is.

Nope, No hot wiring needed. This plug is unused in the truck. The aforementioned melting of the wire (badly) shown was not during my ownership. My first ignorant thought is to find the other end of that wire and remove it entirely. Sort of like throwing away the baby with the bathwater....

I just bought myself this great old book for christmas....

Now hopefully I can make some sense of things.
The green plug with its 12 wires that started this thread seems to be named the "Hydra - Max monitor". What that means exactly is still anyones guess. I'll keep deciphering...anyone else who cares to shout out, please feel free.

Landon
EDIT: Okay apparently is has something to do with some optional equipment apparently not installed in my truck to monitor the hydraulic brakes.
If anyone has any equipment like this installed in their truck I'd be curious to see what it looks like.

In my younger days I drove a dump truck was a Ford and could have been a F700? I know it was rated for 5 tons.
It had a gas 330 v8, 5sp, 2sp rear and used IIRC vacuum / hydraulic brake system and a gauge / light on the dash and when vacuum got below a point an alarm & light went off.
You would have to stop, most of the time when backing up to the paver, and build the vacuum back up and move again.

Now this truck did not have a trailer brake system installed, none of his trucks did, so I wounder if your plug was for something like that?
I was going to say maybe if the truck ran a diesel the brake system would be different than what you have but the truck came wired either way?
Then again my truck was a diesel, Chevy C70, 6 ton Detroit Diesel turbo 4 cly, 5sp, 2 sp rear, and it also had the same type brake system, no air brakes.
