FL-2016 knock off?

Dealerships now sell both the 3C3Z-6731-AA and the 3C3Z-6731-AB individually. Probably getting rid of inventory. The AB is the same as the FL2016W, which is called the "white box" filter and has been discussed on forums before. Apparently the "white box" filter originally was intended to be sold in bulk to specific high volume customers (which would lower its cost). They were supposed to be the same filter as the 3C3Z-6731-AA. Way back when people started buying and talking about the FL2016W, I don't believe that they were available in individual quantities from dealerships.

You can see the FL2016W in small print under "other names" on the web site linked above for the 3C3Z-6731-AB.
All that said - anything can be counterfeited. Use trusted sources IMO!
