Hi, my 5.4 triton engine light is flashing all thie time.
-new plugs and coils
-powercleaned injectors
-remanufactured egnie
-new fuel filter
-newer battery
Has anyone had this issue before?
Does anyone know what this might be?
Does anyone know what fuel related sensors it could be?
Yes with a scangauge II
It starts off normal, 3 codes found:
-P0307(misfire 7)
-P0446 (evap sys)
P0453 (evap sys sens)
But then it starts getting unusual
Starts flipping through codes-
P0704, then C0604, and starts rotating through.
C1303, P0404
P0304
Note this is with Key on Engine off.
This is unusual for the scangauge II to cycle through without pressing the next or previous button.
Also when I see these new codes it's cycling through automatically. Then when pressing the buttons to cycle it only cycles through 2-3 different codes!
Who did the engine install? Was everything hooked up correctly?
Alot of those codes are fuel/egr related. I'd be looking more into the misfire, that can cause alot of other codes. What brand plugs and coils? I don't trust most aftermarket coils, you're better off with OEM junkyard coils than some of the cheap new stuff that's out there.
The previous owner did the install. A hispanic individual, not much English.
Seems to be installed correctly other than:
-direct short to ground from an accessory light FIXED
-broken PCM plug hold down latch, FIXED with a metal strap to hold down all latches
Next step: fuel system sensors I guess
Chinese coil packs most likely
What I haven't got to yet is the limp mode symptoms SOMETIMES but not all
Truck cuts all power, idles and goes limp for about 10 seconds
Then after 10 s it kicks back up and goes just fine!
Only thing is the throttle response changes afterwards from peppy before to more sluggish and less responsive after
Usually the throttle response will change a while after a drive from peppy and lien to more normal and slower + less responsive after awhile, EVEN when the truck does not go into "limp mode" symptoms.
Hey I just pulled the ecm and found I have some electrical pins low.
They are adjusted with tweezers and needle nose now.
BTW these 2 were also bent before the picture.
Also this is the center plug and the plug that had a faulty latch.. now that I've rigged a metal latch it should be plug and play (carefully).
OK it had a unscrewed coil pack, needed the fuel rail pressure sensor, new battery ground cable upgraded, bad radio parasitic draw of 1.5amps. etc..
But now it is having R/S trailer turn signal power at the reverse light relay?? The reverse ground seems to be connected to the r/s trailer turn signal hot output wire!
it has a new / used matching SJB now too cloned and installed. the engine bay battery junction fuse block has an orange (appears to have been overheated) bus right on the end where the hot lug is. But the r/s trailer turn signal is flashing at the reverse light when the reverse light is not on. It doesnt when the reverse is on.... The reverse ground is testing as connected to the r/s turn hot wire.
