Hey all, I have an 84 f250 that the parking brake pedal doesn’t stay down, I’ll press it down and I’ll spring right back up. How do I fix it? Kinda need it to work because the truck is a manual
Can you hear the clicking as you depress the pedal? Seems there is pawl that catches a gear. Then releases with the T handle to the dash. There is a spring that holds the handle in ratchet mode. Then is released when you pull the T handle.
You will need to get under when it is pushed to check the pawl & teeth.
Could be the teeth are warn away and the pawl has nothing to grab?
There is play between the pedal and the body at the pivot of the pedal assy. so the pawl / teeth do not line up right.
Maybe it needs a cleaning and lube?
Yep you need to get under there and see what is going on.
