My brake handle has to be pushed in for the parking brake to work ! It releases ok, just does not hold when I push down on the parking brake pedal until I slide in the handle
Do I need the spring that may be in Carpenters catalog ?
It sounds like you need the spring on the parking brake pedal assembly that pulls the handle (and mechanism) back down after the handle is pulled. Which Ford didn't sell separately. One could only buy the handle itself and the pedal pad separately. You'll have to figure some spring out from a hardware store. Sorry.
