Im trying to put together this front end and i dont know if this is supposed to lean back like this
im guessing it should be straight up and down. im thinking my front xmember is bent?
any1 else ever had this problem/ how to correct it?
If the crossmember was that bent it would be apparent. It's more likely you just need to add more of the pieces, the deflectors, aprons and support rods that hold everything together and in place.

Wayne if you're gonna post pics of my 54 239 Yblock show up to date pictures after I detailed the engine! LOL
To answer the OP's question, I think the saddle does lean back a bit.
When I installed my core support, I did not have the cab on the truck. It still is not on.
F100fun, Jim had a great idea where he made a bracket off the frame horns to hold the core support in the right location. I took his idea and modified it to be adjustable.
The PO had shortened the frame horns, so I needed an extension, on the frame.
The picture from mid fifty is wrong , it says top rubber is inside support, it should be under the support. If you do it like the picture the support is is sitting on the cross member with no rubber between them.
