Headliner and Condesation

I purchased a new headliner to install as I currently don't have one at all. The problem that keeps bouncing around my head though is the condensation. This time of year it's quite a lot as you can see in the pic. So what happens when I install some sound deadening material and the new headliner? Will the condensation still occur only to eventually ruin the new headliner? Or is there some scientific reason why condensation won't happen when the new sound deadener and HL is installed?

Is your truck outside, year around? With the wet, Bay-area winters, and differences between nighttime lows/daytime highs, condensation is bound to happen. My truck’s parked under a carport , gets no rain on it unless I’m driving it, but I still crack both windows an inch to get some airflow. I get about half the winter rainfall here in the Sierras as I got when under the redwoods in the Santa Cruz Mtns.(50” v 25” Oct. to April) . If your truck’s parked outside near the house, consider running an extension cord and a very low wattage heater at night. If theft’s concern, maybe not possible?

Also, are you otherwise all sealed-up, i.e., no door seal leaks that would be allowing that much moisture in?

Yeah it sits outside year-round. During the summer it's not so bad, but during the winter it gets zero direct sunshine. I think I might do an experiment and place some of those absorbent desiccant bags in the truck and see if that makes any difference.

I’d not waste my money. You’d need a ton of them, plus you’d need to thoroughly dry them every day. A 250 watt heater, set up on a timer for 4-6 hours a night, would do the trick and not break the bank. It might be that only a low power fan, with your windows cracked would do the trick.

I did this on another truck when I had a leaking door seal . It kept the carpet and padding dry for a few weeks till I could replace the door seal.
